| Evansville is a historic community located less than 25 miles South of Madison and approximately 20 miles West of Janesville. The city of about 4,000 residents has a 22 block historic district listed on the National Register. In November 2007, the city's Main Street was redone and the original cobblestone was reinstalled to give Evansville its historic main street again. The community takes pride in the historic significance of Evansville, therefore, over the past five years, a total, thus far, of five downtown buildings have been restored. In 2002, the Evansville School District completed a new state-of-the art high school. The community has also taken measures to ensure the restoration of the J.C. McKenna Middle School.
